5 Artists Who Got Snubbed By The Grammy Committee This Year

You know how artists are always saying, "I'm honored just to be nominated," whenever one of their projects receives a nomination for a Grammy Award? Well, as it turns out, it's not just a tired old cliche. Artists really are honored to receive a Grammy nomination. If nothing else, it means that they can throw the adjective "Grammy-nominated" before their name forever. And, it gives them a chance to collect a Grammy trophy on the biggest night in music. But, every year, there are a few artists who, for whatever reason, don't get nominated despite releasing projects that deserve some recognition. We don't know why it happens, but it does. And, this year is no different. At the 2013 Grammy Awards, there are a few famous faces that you won't be seeing because they weren't nominated for any awards this year. Here, we take a closer look at 5 Artists Who Got Snubbed By The Grammy Committee This Year and explain why they should have received a nomination. Maybe next year, guys. ‹›
The Artist: Justin Bieber He didn't receive a single Grammy nomination for his album, Believe, or any of the singles ("As Long As You Love Me," "Boyfriend," etc.) from it. Why He Should Have Been Nominated: Are you kidding us? If the Grammy organizers want anyone under the age of 20 to tune in, they DEFINITELY should have shown Biebs some love. Plus, his 2012 singles were all over the radio and, at the very least, deserved some love in one of the pop categories. It's a crime that he wasn't nominated. ‹›
The Artist: Nicki Minaj She didn't get any love for her album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, or any of the pop or rap singles from it. Why She Should Have Been Nominated: We get that it's a little bit hard to categorize Nicki's music. But, she had a handful of pop and rap singles that did well on the charts and received some critical love, so she deserved a nomination or two. We also would've loved to see her and 2 Chainz (who did get a Grammy nomination) perform "Beez in the Trap" during the show. How awesome would that have been? ‹›
The Artist: PSY His massive hit single, "Gangnam Style," was completely ignored and didn't receive any nominations. Why He Should Have Been Nominated: In six months, Psy is probably going to be a distant memory for a lot of people. But, you can't deny what he was able to do in 2012 with "Gangnam Style." It shattered YouTube records and was arguably the most well-known song of the last year. A Grammy nomination would have put a nice bow on the "Gangnam Style" craze and sent it out on top. ‹›
The Artist: One Direction The group's debut album, Up All Night, didn't receive any nominations. Neither did their huge single, "What Makes You Beautiful." Why They Should Have Been Nominated: Like Bieber, 1D would have attracted some younger fans to the Grammy telecast. Plus, the group did have a No. 1 album last year, so it's not like they didn't deserve some love. If they don't deserve a nomination in a pop category, we don't know who does. ‹›
The Artist: Lady Gaga Her single, "Marry the Night," was left off the Grammy nominations list. Why She Should Have Been Nominated: Whenever she shows up to an awards show, she automatically makes it more fun. So, even though she didn't have a lot of eligible material to work with, the Grammy organizers should have found a way to make Gaga happy. Who are we going to ogle on the red carpet now?! ‹›
